For the Love of Writing

“All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath.” F. Scott Fitzgerald

Well, here it goes…writing the first post on my new and improved blog!  There have been so many wonderful and crazy moments this past year and what’s a better way to remember life’s moments then to document them in a blog?  There have been many times this year where I thought to myself; “Man, I wish I had a journal, or someway to write down this memory!”  I had been randomly blogging, but it was nothing I had set in stone. I had no vision as to where I wanted that blog to go.

 A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to be more intentional with blogging.  I feel like now {more than ever!} I need a creative outlet. A place where I can go to write about my running, life, and just random thoughts that I feel I should write about.  Aside from needing a creative outlet I also just miss writing.  I wrote so many papers in college {and yes, I did complain about writing papers when I was a student, but once I determined what direction I wanted the paper to go, I absolutely loved it!} and I miss improving my writing skills through paper writing.  You know what they say…practice makes perfect!  So it’s time for me to intentionally practice writing on this blog {for the love of it!}.

One of my favorite authors, F. Scott Fitzgerald puts it beautifully; “All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath.” Swimming under water and holding your breath is hard work {for the writer AND reader}. So I invite you to join me on this lovely journey of writing through life…even if it’s hard work!  Because let’s face it, hard work pays off in the long run.

Cheers to writing!  {And swimming for that matter!}
