Kitchen Command Center: Part 1

Hello hello!  So today I could not, for the life of me, think of what to post.  I may just be brain dead or have some kind of weird form of writer’s block…it happens to the best of us. So, today is going to feature a random post of me throwing up thoughts and ideas.  I’m all for random Thursdays!

First and foremost…I’ve been married to my husband for 8 months today!

Our Grand Entrance!

Time sure flies! Aaron is a grad student working toward his PhD in physics.  Yes, he is super duper smart and I sure do admire him for how hard he works in school!

With Aaron still  in school and me having an entry-level, just graduated from college, kind of job, we are definitely not in the market for buying a house (someday though!).  We live in a suburban neighborhood in a cozy little one bedroom apartment that looks like it was built in the 1950’s (we have a little door in our kitchen that the milkman would put milk back in the day).

We recently renewed our lease, so my diy pinteresting has become a little obsessive. I don’t want to spend a ton of money making our apartment “homey,” since it’s an apartment and we won’t be there forever.  But, since it is so small, I do want to spend time organizing and utilizing our space the best way that we can.

My first idea is to create a command center on the wall in our kitchen (I know, it’s super OCD, but to each his own…I personally love the idea!). Our kitchen is small, but we spend a lot of time in it cooking and eating. It also tends to be the place where mail gets put on the table and that drives me nuts!  I want to be able to organize it right away.  So I have been thinking of solutions to overcome the dreaded kitchen table pile up.  I might go for something along the lines of the below pics…

I will keep you posted on the progress of this project! My goal is to finish it by the end of August, so I will do a recap on my progress at the end of the month.

Let me know your thoughts!  Do you have any ideas or suggestions on organizing a small apartment or kitchen space?
