Hello and happy Saturday!
We just came back from a sunny CA mini vacation earlier this week. Getting away from work and just the same old “stuff” was AMAZING! It was a much needed break from EVERYTHING! (Can you tell!? 😉 )
Anywho, I thought I’d jump on the blog and share some of the highlights from our trip.
We arrived in CA pretty early on Friday morning and gained 2 hours flying out west, since we are on Central Time. I purposefully purchased and earlier flight so we could have the whole day to do stuff. I mean, who would pass up an extra day of sun?!
We stayed with my aunt and uncle, which made things convenient for airport pick up and lodging. My cousin also became our designated CA tour guide, which meant we really did zero planning on the itinerary. #score
We spent Friday on Laguna Beach – Sunbathed. Hiked. Swam. (well, I dipped my toes in the water 😉 ).
San Jacinto Mountains – Palm Springs, CA
Saturday we basically spent the whole day hiking in the San Jacinto Mountains. And let me tell you, the views were breathtaking! Literally! I got dizzy and felt like I couldn’t breathe, but that was most likely altitude sickness. No worries, a little bit of water seemed to help. 🙂
Joshua Tree National Park
On Sunday we decided to venture out to Joshua Tree National Park. I’m so glad we decided on spending the day there because it was AWESOME! It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. It was a very different feel from hiking in the mountains. A lot more desert and rocks everywhere!
Newport Beach and Huntington Beach
After two full days of hiking, we decided that we wanted our last day to be a little more relaxing. What better than to spend the day chilling on the beach?!
Our trip was so much fun and a much needed break from our everyday life! California is beautiful! We are so thankful that my Cali family was willing to host us and we look forward to many more visits with family out there in the future.
